Billsboard: WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING! WE JUST HAD TO DO SOMETHING!

We had to do something.

In February 2011, you couldn’t watch the news or read a newspaper here in Britain without seeing what was going on in Libya. There were constant warnings of humanitarian crisis, about the terrible things Qaddafi was doing and about a potential massacre in Benghazi. That was why the west got involved in the war there. Now, just over 18 months on, after a western intervention that saw the murder of Qaddafi and the rise to power of a pro-western government, the situation in Libya is worse. There is a genuine humanitarian crisis, demonstrations are completely banned and the city of Bani Walid has been under siege for 22 days now, with pro-government militias laying the town to waste. British news is fairly quiet on this story, with the BBC giving it merely a run over with no comment on the human rights abuses that are plainly going on there. They claim dozens have been killed. This is a true statement, it just doesnt state that this number of dozens could total up to 500 people. But of course, Libya is now liberated, so this is all fine. Come on John, move on, Libya is in the past, come on. Qaddafi was mad! We had to do something! WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING!

We had to do something.
