Poor bugger.

Hell’s Prisoner: The Shocking True Story of an Innocent Man Jailed for Eleven Years in Indonesia’s Most Notorious Prisons (2002)

I was introduced to Chris Parnell very recently by my good buddy Eric Wiedemann. We were talking about the glorious television show ‘Banged Up Abroad’, and he mentioned what he considered to be the best ever episode. He wasn’t joking, this episode is absolutely incredible. After watching it more times than is probably healthy, I decided to buy the book. The book delivers more of the same.

To sum it all up, Chris Parnell is the most Australian person who ever lived, and at the same time is an absolute hero. His life motto seems to be a combination of ‘Punch it in the face’, ‘Run faster’ and Be Freakin’ Awesome. I don’t want to spoil the story, but if I had been in his position I would have deposited many a turd upon thine pants. The fact that he was able to keep his head so frequently and so well is an absolute credit to humanity. He was absolutely buggered, and still managed to keep his head and stay alive, except for the few hours when he was actually dead. Impressive.

To sum up the story, when people talk of Jesus, they are actually talking about Christopher Parnell. Here’s a link to the episode.
