Wrestling is Awesome XLIV: Rainmaker

Posted on August 4, 2014

More and more people (myself included) are wising up to the fact that New Japan Pro Wrestling is, as the kids would say, ‘where it is at’ right now regarding pro wrestling. The G1 Climax mega tournament is in full flow, and although I haven’t seen much I’ve seen enough to know that something special is going on out there. Matches are much harder hitting, but also more respectful to the history of pro wrestling. Strikes are way more important, meaning seemingly simple moves such as Kazuchika Okada’s Rainmaker lariat are over as the Instant Critical finishing moves that they should be. Plus I’m a boner for a short arm clothesline.
